How can I pay the credit card fee on behalf of my customers?

  • Updated

When you get paid using Melio, you’ll choose who pays the 2.9% tax deductible credit card fee- you or your customer. The default is your customer, but you can change this at any time- here’s how:

1. Go to Settings in the left sidebar, then go to Receiving methods.

2. Under Credit card fee payment on the right, select who will pay the fee: your customers or you.

3. Click Got it in the pop-up message to confirm.

4. When you send a payment request and your customer has a Melio account, they’ll be notified their credit card payment fee is waived. Here's what it looks like:

5. If they’re not a Melio user, they’ll be able to see all of their payment options, which are all free.

6. When your customer schedules the payment, they’ll see the fee is $0 when confirming the payment.

7. Once the payment is collected, your connected bank account will be charged the 2.9% fee and you'll receive a receipt via email.

8. You can also review all your fee payments in Settings, under Billing.
