Sending a payment request for a specific invoice with the Melio mobile app
If you have an invoice and want to request a payment from your customer, here's how to do it:
1 - From your Melio mobile app, select Get paid at the bottom panel.
2 - On the Get Paid dashboard, select a plus icon (+) at the bottom right.
3 - From the actions menu that appears, select Request payment.
Alternatively, you can select Request payment at the top of the home screen.
4 - Select a customer you want to request a payment from.
If you need to add a new customer, you can do so at this point. Please refer to this article for more information.
5 - Enter the payment amount. Then, select Continue.
6 - Enter the invoice details.
Mandatory fields:
- Invoice number: This number is automatically generated, but you can change it. The system won't let you use a number that already exists.
- Due date
Optional field:
- A note on the invoice (payment description)
7 - Select Request payment to complete the process.
That’s it. Your customer will receive an email with a link to the payment page where they can pay the invoice.
Alternatively, you can share the URL link with your customer by selecting the Share link button at the bottom of the screen.
The invoice will also appear in the Invoices tab.
Please note:
- You can also share a QR code that will be shown after you create the invoice.
- If you want to copy a payment link to share it yourself, select the Share invoice button.
Sharing your payment link without an invoice
To share a payment link without an invoice, you first need to create it.
Currently, it’s not possible to create a link in the mobile app. You can only do it in the web version. For more details, refer to our dedicated guide about creating the payment link.
Please note:
- This payment link is associated with your Melio account, but not with a specific invoice.
- Learn more about what the customer sees when opening the link in this article.
- Once paid, you will see the payment in the Get Paid Payments tab.
Once created, you can share your payment link with your customers using the Melio mobile app to get paid digitally through:
- URL
- QR code
Follow these steps:
1 - Select Get paid at the bottom of the screen.
2 - Select the QR code icon at the top right of the screen.
Alternatively, you can select the “Your QR code” button at the top of the home screen.
3 - A pop-up window will appear. Here you can:
- Share the link.
- Copy the link.
- Share the QR code.
That’s it. You can send the link or QR code to your customer, which they can use to make payments.
