Download a CSV report of your expense transactions at any time, whether for your own records or to share outside Melio. This is available whether or not you sync to QuickBooks Online, so you can keep track of your expenses your way.
In this article:
How to export transactions
1 - Select Expense management from the left sidebar, then the Transactions tab.
2 - Select the Ready to sync tab.
3 - Select the download icon (labeled Export CSV when you hover over it).
4 - In the Export expenses pop-up, choose a start date and end date.
5 - Select Export to download the file, or Cancel to close the pop-up without exporting.
The file downloads to your device once generated.
What's included in the export
In the exported CSV file, each row includes the date, card, cardholder, merchant, payee, amount, total transaction amount, currency, category, and memo.
Receipt images aren't included in the export. To keep a copy of a receipt image, download it directly from the transaction.
Exporting vs. syncing
Exporting is different from syncing to QuickBooks Online or Xero:
- Exported transactions stay editable in Melio — you can still make changes, and sync them later if you connect QuickBooks Online or Xero.
- Synced transactions are permanently locked and can no longer be exported or changed in Melio.
If you're on a plan that doesn't support syncing, CSV export is still available to you — it's the main way to get your expense data into your own records.
That's it! You've exported your expense transactions to a CSV file you can use outside Melio.
