Once you select a category for a transaction, you can sync it to QuickBooks Online. This article explains how syncing works and what to expect afterward, and contains the following sections:
Before you sync
- QuickBooks Online must be connected to Melio
- Each card must have a reconciliation account selected
- The transaction must be reviewed and categorized: payee, category, and amount confirmed and saved.
How to sync transactions
1 - Select Expenses from the left sidebar, then the Transactions tab.
2 - Open the Ready to sync tab.
3 - Select the checkbox next to one or more transactions - a summary bar at the bottom of the screen shows how many you've selected and their total amount.
4 - Select Sync.
Statuses update as the sync runs. If a transaction fails to sync, an error message appears with the reason, and you can retry it without affecting the other transactions in the batch.
After a transaction syncs
Synced transactions are permanently locked in Melio to prevent duplicate entries - you can view them, but you can't edit or delete them. If you need to make a correction after syncing, make it directly in QuickBooks Online. There is no way to un-sync a transaction.
Melio doesn't check whether a transaction already exists in QuickBooks Online before syncing. Double-check your selection to avoid creating duplicate expenses in your books.
