  • Updated

If a staff member of your firm no longer needs access to certain clients, Melio makes it easy to update those permissions. This guide explains how to remove a staff member's access to specific clients.

To remove a staff member from your accounting firm’s Melio account, check out this article.

There are two ways to unassign clients from your staff member:

Unassigning clients from your staff member via the firm's Staff dashboard

Follow these steps:

1- Sign in to your firm’s Melio account.

2- Select Staff on the left sidebar.

3- Find the staff member from whom you want to unassign clients. Use the Search staff field if needed.

4- Select the three-dot icon next to the chosen staff member.

5- Select Edit member from the actions menu.

Select Edit member to unassign clients from a specific staff member.

You can also select the staff member's row to open the Staff member details page. Then select Edit to reach the Edit member details page.

Select Edit from the Staff member details popup to unassign clients.

6- You will see the Edit member details page appear on the right side of your screen.

7- Scroll down to Assigned clients, and uncheck the box for the clients you want to unassign.

If the staff member has many assigned clients, use the Search clients field to quickly locate specific ones, or click Select all to check or uncheck every client at once.

If a staff member is listed as the Owner for a client, the checkbox and role dropdown for that client will be grayed out. Staff members can't be unassigned from a client account they are the Owner for.

8- Select Save

That’s it. You successfully unassigned the clients from your staff member.

Alternatively, you can remove a staff member directly from your client’s Melio account. Learn more about how to do it in this article.
