If you're the Owner of your firm's Melio account, you can transfer ownership to another staff member. This gives them full control of the account, including the ability to manage staff, while your own role changes to Admin.
Only your firm's current Owner can transfer ownership. Once completed, this action can't be undone. If anything needs to be reversed, the new Owner would need to transfer the ownership back.
How to transfer ownership
1- Sign in to your firm’s Melio account.
2- Select Staff on the left sidebar.
3- Find the staff member you want to transfer ownership to. Use the Search staff field if needed.
4- Select the three-dot icon next to the staff member, then select Transfer ownership.
You can also select the staff member's row to open the Staff member details page, then select Actions. From the menu that appears, select Transfer ownership.
5- Review the confirmation message, then select Transfer ownership to confirm.
Transferring ownership also updates client access: the new Owner's Clients assigned automatically changes to All clients, replacing whatever clients they had before.
You keep your own previous client assignments as a new Admin. If you'd like to adjust either person's client access afterward, see Assigning an accounting firm's staff member to a client.
That's it! Ownership of your firm's Melio account has been transferred, and your role has been updated to Admin.
