The Refer & earn program is gradually rolling out to ensure the best experience for everyone. If you don't see it in your account yet, it's on its way.
Once you refer someone to Melio and they meet the Refer and earn program conditions, you’ll be eligible to receive a cash reward. Rewards are paid out through impact.com, a third party payout platform. To receive your reward, you need to set up a rewards account on impact.com in advance — this article walks you through how to do that.

This article is for Melio users who refer businesses through the Refer & earn program inside their Melio account.
Melio also has a separate Affiliate program, open to anyone — including people who don’t have a Melio account — where you earn a commission by promoting Melio to a broader audience. Step 1: Enter your rewards email in Melio
1 - In Melio, go to the Refer and earn page. You can get there directly from the side navigation.
2 - In the Referral tracker section, select Set up account next to Total earned rewards.
3 - In the Set up your rewards account window, enter the email address you want to use to sign in to impact.com.
Please note:
- Only Owner and Admin roles can perform this action.
- Double-check this email before saving — it is shared with impact.com and used to sign in.
4 - Select Save. Melio sends a setup link to the email address of your Melio account Owner, not to the email address you’ve just shared with impact.com.
Step 2: Complete your account setup on impact.com
1 - Open the email from Melio Service with the subject Get ready to receive your Melio referral rewards.
2 - Select Set up your account. You are taken to impact.com to create your account.
Do not go to impact.com on your own. The account registration should be made only via email you received from Melio as described in this article. Otherwise, you will not be able to get your rewards correctly.
3 - On the impact.com, select Register.
4 - On the registration page, fill in your first name, last name, and a password, then select Register.
Please note:
- The email address will be pre-filled.
- Do not try to change or delete it. It has to be the same email address you provided in your Melio account during Step 1.
5 - Now, impact.com sends a verification email to the same address. Open it and verify your email to continue.
If you don’t see the email within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.
Step 3: Provide tax and payout information
After you verified your email address, you can log in to your impact.com account and continue.
To start the setup process, select Payouts & Tax Settings in your impact.com account.
Impact.com guides you through a multi-step setup to collect the information needed to pay you.
Account Holder Details
Submit your personal information, such as your first and last name, and address.
Tax form
Select whether you are setting up the account as an Individual or an Entity (company). Fill in the required basic details and your Tax Identification Number.
Submit your tax documents to confirm your identity and tax status.
Payout method
Choose how you want to receive your rewards:
- Bank transfer (ACH)
- PayPal
Payment schedule
Choose the balance threshold at which impact.com sends your payment.
After setup: Receiving your rewards
Once your referred business signs up through your link and makes at least $500 in payments within 60 days — Melio confirms the referral and your reward is queued for payout.
You receive an email confirming the reward.
Rewards are deposited to your firm’s account within 30 - 60 days of each completed referral.
Please note: Your referral tracker in Melio shows Emails sent, Total signups, Completed referrals, and Total earned rewards so you can track progress at any time.
What if you weren’t able to complete the rewards account setup?
You can still refer the businesses to Melio. However, you will not be able to get the reward without completing the process described in this article. If you weren’t able to complete it in one go, go to the Refer and earn page in your Melio account, and select Manage payouts in the top right corner. This will allow you to continue the setup process.
Additionally, if you are eligible for a reward and didn’t finish your impact.com setup, you receive an email from them asking you to complete the account setup and get your reward.
