How to view balances and cash movement in Banking

  • Updated

Banking shows you how much is in your connected bank accounts and how money has moved in and out over time. This guide shows you how to choose which accounts and dates to review, and how to read your balance and money movement charts.

Banking is view-only. These charts don't move money between accounts or start payments.

Choose accounts and dates

1- From the left sidebar, select Banking.

2- Select the All accounts dropdown. It shows All accounts or your current selection.

Alternatively, from the homepage, find the Banking widget and select the All accounts dropdown. From here, you can select an account or Manage accounts.

3- Check the box next to each account you want to include.

4- Select the date dropdown.

5- Choose Last 30 days, Last 60 days, or Last 90 days.

Your account and date choices apply to the charts and the transactions table. They only change what you see on screen. To stop showing an account in Banking, use Manage accounts.

Review your bank balance

6- Review Connected bank accounts at the top of the page to see the balance of each account.

Credit card accounts aren’t included in Banking. Even if you selected a credit card when connecting your bank, its balance and transactions won’t appear in your charts.

7- In Balance over time, select the Balance tab.

8- Choose Per account to see each account in its own color, or Combined to see one total.

You can switch between a bar chart and a line chart. Hover over the chart to see the total balance and each account's balance for that day. To learn how the bank balance is calculated, select the information icon next to Bank balance.

Balances come from your bank through Plaid and aren't updated in real time. They may not include pending activity or payments still in progress. Past balances are calculated from your transactions, so they may not match your bank statement exactly.

Review money movement

9- In Balance over time, select the Money movement tab.

10- Review the money that came in, the money that went out, and the Net change for the dates you selected.

You can also switch to a waterfall chart. It shows your balance and the money that came in and went out between each point.

That's it! You can now review your bank balances and money movement for the accounts and dates you choose.
