What can Agent Mel do for you?
Agent Mel is your go-to resource for all things related to your clients' accounts payable. It can assist with:
- Simplifying complex analysis: Run multi-step queries - like year-to-date vendor spend or overdue payment trends - in seconds, without building a custom report or using a spreadsheet.
- Gaining proactive insights: Move beyond simply reacting to problems. Agent Mel helps you quickly spot cash flow issues and vendor risks, empowering you to address them before they cause disruption.
- Quickly finding information and answering questions: Get fast answers and find specific details about your clients' accounts payable history, including invoices, vendor details, and payment statuses.
- Administrative support: Use it as a virtual assistant to handle routine queries, freeing you up to focus on higher-level tasks.
❗Important Note:
- Agent Mel is an information-retrieval tool, not a task-execution tool.
- It can tell you about your or your client's accounts payable data, but it cannot perform tasks like creating invoices or scheduling payments.
- It cannot answer general questions (e.g., "What is the weather?").
- Questions related to Get Paid (accounts receivable) are currently not supported, but we plan to expand Agent Mel's capabilities to include them.
- It cannot provide recommendations, forecasting, or answer questions about payment approvers or product functionality.
Who can use Agent Mel?
Agent Mel’s availability depends on your Melio account type:
Accounting firms: Agent Mel is available for you. It can assist you with your own Melio account and with your clients’ accounts.
Only your firm has access to Agent Mel - clients cannot use the tool directly.
Businesses: Agent Mel is available for Core and higher subscription plans. It is not available to Melio Go users.
How to use Agent Mel
1 - Select the Agent Mel button at the top right of the screen. Please note that this button appears only on the Accountants' Home dashboard:

2 - For Accounting firms: When the Agent Mel chat window opens, you will first need to select the organization you want to ask about.
To do it, select Choose firm or client and then select the organization from the list or use the search bar to find it quickly.
3 - Type your question into the Agent Mel interface. You can ask anything related to the accounts payable data of the selected organization or business you are currently logged in to or assigned to.

4 - For Accounting firms: The selected organization name will appear at the top of the AI chat window. You can choose a different organization by selecting the arrow icon.
