Managing your Payroll by Card settings

  • Updated

Your Payroll by Card settings are where you can manage the cards and bank account you use to fund payroll. This guide walks you through adding a Funding card and viewing and updating your Payroll bank account details.

In this guide, you'll learn the following:

How to access your Payroll by Card settings

1- Sign into your Melio account.

2- Select Settings in the left sidebar.

3- Under Payments & billing, select Payroll by Card.

Select Payroll by Card under settings.

Only account Owners and Admins of eligible accounts can access Payroll by Card settings.

How to add a Funding card

Your Funding cards section shows the cards currently available to fund payroll payments.

1- Under Funding cards, select + Add another card.

Select Add another card to enter in a new Payroll by Card funding card.

2- Enter your card and cardholder details.

As you begin typing the address, suggested options will populate in a dropdown list. If you see an address that is the correct match, select it. If not, select + Enter address manually.

3- Select Save.

Only Visa and Mastercard are eligible Funding cards for Payroll by Card. Amex isn't supported.

If you add a card here, it will also be saved to your Payment methods.

To remove a card, go to Settings > Payments & billing > Payment methods.

If you have more than one eligible card on file, you'll choose which one to fund with each time you submit a Payroll by Card payment.

How to view and update your Payroll bank account

Your Payroll bank account section shows the bank accounts your Payroll by Card payments can be delivered to. You can have funds delivered by ACH bank transfer or wire transfer. You'll choose which method to use each time you submit a Payroll by Card payment.

1- Under Payroll bank account, select the three dots next to the account you want to update and select Edit.

If you have not added a Payroll bank account yet, select Add payroll delivery method.

2- Next to ACH transfer or Wire transfer, select Edit to update existing details, or + Add if that method hasn't been set up yet.

If you are adding your first Payroll bank account, also confirm your pre-filled Business details (business name, contact name, email, phone number, and company address), then select Save.

Your business name is pre-filled from your account details. To ensure smooth processing, do not add any suffixes.

3- Enter your routing number and account number. If you're adding Wire transfer details, also enter your account holder name and company address.

As you begin typing your Company address, suggested options will populate in a dropdown list. Once you find the correct match, select it.

4- Select Add to add new details, or Save to update existing details.

Make sure the bank account you enter is the same account your payroll provider already debits from on payday. Adding a different account won't fund your payroll correctly.

That's it! You've added a Funding card and can now view and update your Payroll bank account details at any time from your Payroll by Card settings.
