What is the Audit Trail report?
The audit trail provides a detailed record of actions taken by you and your team in your Melio account. This transparency helps you stay in control of your business finances and ensures you are always prepared for audits.
Audit trail reports are generated monthly, with records available starting from November 2025. Reports for the current month include all data from the first of the month up to the present day.
Who can create this report?
Audit trail reports can only be created and downloaded by Melio account Owners and Admins. Learn more about available user roles and permissions in this article.
What information is included in the report?
The report captures essential details for every action taken since the feature was launched. Each report includes:
- Timestamp: The exact time of the action in UTC timezone.
- User details: The email and user ID of the person who performed the action.
- Organization ID: Your company's internal Melio ID.
- Action type: Whether an item was created, updated, or deleted.
- Activity: A brief explanation of what was created, changed, or deleted.
- Details: Specific details about what exactly was changed, such as bill amounts, vendor names, or payment schedules.
To protect your security, sensitive banking information like bank account or card numbers will only show the last four digits.
What account activities are included in the report?
The report monitors key areas of your Accounts Payable workflow, including:
- Bills and payments: Track when bills are created or edited, and when payments are scheduled, approved, declined, refunded, etc.
- Team management: See when users are added or removed, and when roles or permissions change.
- Account settings: Monitor changes to your organization's details and payment methods.
- Vendors: Changes to the vendor details or their delivery methods.
- Security: Review successful or failed login attempts and accounting software synchronization activities.
- Accounting software sync and other integrations: Track accounting software sync activities and other integrations, such as Amazon and Google.
How to download your audit trail report
Follow these steps to download the report:
1 - Sign in to your Melio account.
2 - Open the Settings page.
3 - Select the Tax and reports section.
4 - Locate the Audit trail reports section, and select Create report.
5 - Choose the specific month you wish to create the report for.
6 - Click the Download report button.
Your report will download as a CSV file, which can be opened in most spreadsheet applications like Excel or Google Sheets. If no activity occurred during the selected month, the file will still download with the standard column headers included.
