Creating an American Express® virtual Card through Secure Payment

You can create your American Express virtual Card in 2 ways:

1. In Expenses.

2. When you check out with the Chrome extension.

 

Create a virtual Card in Expenses

1. Sign in to your Melio account.

2. Click Expenses in the left sidebar.

3. Click + Create Virtual Card in the top right corner or in the middle of the screen if your table is empty.

4. In New Virtual Card, enter the Card details:

a. Select an account to connect the virtual Card to, if you have more than one account.

b. Give the Card a nickname that indicates what it is used for. For example: Office expenses.

c. Decide for how long the Card is valid. The options are: one week, one month, one year, or five years. Select it from the dropdown list. The default is set for a five-year period.

d. Toggle Spend limit and Enter the amount.

NOTE: Don’t want to set a limit?

If you prefer not to set a limit amount, don’t toggle Spend limit. The Card will be created and Spend limit amount on the Card will indicate “Limit not set”. The Card will get the default limit amount of $100,000.

5. Click Create Virtual Card.

That’s it! The Card was created successfully. You can see and manage it in Cards, under the Active tab.

Create a virtual Card in the Chrome extension

The Secure Payment Chrome extension lets you create a virtual Card and use it for online purchases at checkout.

NOTE: Install the Chrome extension.

To install the Secure Payment Chrome extension, follow these steps to do so.

 

Make your online business purchases as you usually do. When you get to the checkout stage, follow these steps:

1. In the checkout window, before entering the Credit Card details, look for the Melio icon Melio icon.png.

2. Click the Melio icon.

3. In New Virtual Card enter the Card details:

a. Give the Card a nickname that indicates what it is used for. For example: Office expenses.

c. Toggle Spend limit and Enter the amount.

You can see this purchase in your Melio account.

a. Go to Expenses.

b. Click on the Transactions tab.
